Receiver Breadworks

Our bread story begins with John Dale.

John founded Breadworks Organic Bakery with a philosophy built on time, patience and an uncompromising respect for process. John supplied bread for our brunch menu, and we built a friendship alongside the business relationship. When it came time for John to consider retirement, Receiver and Breadworks came together in 2017 with the opening of The Brass Shop. Not just a business acquisition, John entrusted Receiver to carry on the spirit of what sprouted in the Cardigan Farmers Market, knowing that there was a shared belief in creating a quality product.

John shaped everything about how we bake. Working with locally sourced, organically milled Canadian flours, he grounded our bakery in a tradition where technique and care take precedence over shortcuts. That foundation has never left us.

Today, Receiver Breadworks operates out of our bakery at 15 Milky Way in Charlottetown, where every morning the bakery team carries that same philosophy forward, baking a full range of breads and pastries by hand, to the standards John established. The same loaves and pastries that define our café menus are available fresh in our retail spaces at The Brass Shop, Milky Way and Cavendish, ready to bring a little of that craft home with you.

For us, baking has always been more than a profession. It's a tradition and a way of life that we're proud to have inherited from someone who did it so well.
